With the creation of the Ukrainian European Studies Association, European studies in Ukraine have made a great leap forward on the institutional development path. On 2 February 2007, Ministry of Justice of Ukraine awarded Certificate of registration № 2602 to the Ukrainian European Studies Association.

On the occasion, UESA President and Jean Monnet Chair Roman Petrov, PhD, greeted Association's members in more than 20 regional branches throughout Ukraine.

European studies in Ukraine have been developing since mid-1990s as school curricular and extracurricular activities (euroclubs), role plays, simulations, university seminars, as well as scientific studies, which deal with Europe in general and with EU-Ukraine relations in particular.

Ukrainian European Studies Association, which is called to contribute to the development of European studies in Ukraine, was welcomed as the 46th member of the European Community Studies Association-World at the November 2006 ECSA-World Conference "Europe's challenges in the Globalized World". Ukraine's European studies school was for the first time recognized internationally by the decision to include scholars from Ukraine into the most recent edition of "Who is Who in European Studies".
